Czech Holidays and Church

So today was a Czech Holiday but lets go in chronological order starting with Wedsnday. From Wednsday to Thursday it was pretty boring; went to school, came home, read and drew and such. I gave a presentation to 3.G about Canadian lifestyle. I like the women in charge of the English departement, shes really nice. Also this week my host parents were gone till late saturday night cause they went to Venice. They brought me back a full face mask that I get to paint. Its going to be silver with blue lips and black tears and then white swirls around the edges. By the way thats Boli and my ewok. They look like they are related :D

On Friday, Petra and I, went to Jihlava by bus. Its a town 40km or so away. We went shopping where we both had to stay out of the shoe stores cause they had so many cute shoes. I got this cute pins for my blazer and the creatures on them come in dolls but they didnt have a doll of the one I liked best but if I find it I am soooo buying it. I also got some stockings and a birthday present for Isaac. Its a Tshirt that says "Wasn't me". I should've gotten one for Andrew too :D. We then went to see a movie in 3D whos name continues to escape me. Its really annoying. However it was really good movie and I liked it a lot. After we saw Petras classmate/step-cousin who was really hot but has a girlfriend :(. We also met this gay friend of Petras on the bus. He was funny. To get home from Jihlava we waited for Petras boyfriend to pick us up.

On saturday I chilled around the house. Slept in very late then drew and read. Thats about all I did. On Sunday I got up before everyone else and went to church. They branch here is mostly made of members who are related to each other and there are 3 familys with a bunch of young kids. The missionaries were insanely helpful and are going to lend me a book on the Czech language. There is also seminary on Thursdays at 5 and the missionaries teach english on Tuesdays at 6. Which hopefully I can go before I go to Rotary meetings. There is a YW conference in Uherske Hardiste, which hopefully I can go to. I really hope I can, it would be very amazing if I could. There is also a temple trip in November but I will bother Rotary about that after it on the 12th of October. There are two yw in the ward but 1 is inactive and the active one was in London this week unfortunately.

After church I went home and had yummy delicious food with my host family and talked about plans for October so I know whats going on. Sunday night I waiting for my family to get on msn but they were busy which is rare so they werent on but then I talked to them tuesday morning. My parents both seem very excited about me going on the YW conference and house stuff sounds like its going good. We talked for about an hour. I do miss them a bit but I think just msn-ing s keeping it from getting too bad. I've been drawing a lot. I will post pics once I get a fair amount done.
Today Jirka, Jara and I went to Kutna Hora. A town with a huge Cathedral which is absolutely gorgeous. We also went to a new art museum. Some of the stuff was really nice other stuff was weird mordern art that made no sense and was stupid. We also went into a medival silver mine. It was really cool but not recommended for people who are clausterphobic and trust me theres a reason for that. It was really cool and I have a aluminum coin replaca of what the old silver coins looked like which I will either wear cause it came on a leather string or I will put it on my blazer. I also had a very good lunch at this medival like pub.
Here they have ciniminis which is like cinnamin toast crunch but everybox comes with a TOY! So I have a princess Fiona I colored and a looney toons character that can jump. Also sweetened condensed milk here is considered a candy, you can buy them in toothpastelikecontainers in vanilla or chocolate flavour. Petra loves the chocolate one, I prefer the vanilla one.

School is going really good. I dont understand what the teachers are going on about but I am starting to say basic sentences in czech to my classmates :D The cafeteria by my school also has really good food so lunch is definitely pretty good everyday :D

Well thats all I think I need to update you on...

First Rotary Club Trebic Meeting

So my last post was on Sunday and now its Tuesday. Anyones the toilet paper here is never white. It's brown, yellow, ivory but never white. I also tried friend mashed potatoe balls, they were soooooo good. I am also getting better at naviagating around town. School is also getting better and I am working very hard on my Czech

Today I went to the Rotary club meeting. It was a bit unusual because one of the members is on the UNESCO comittee or something so he took us on a tour of the basicalla which used to be a monestary dating back to 12th century. It was really cool and all the stones have symbols of the stone masons so at the end of the day the guy in charge counted the symbols and that was how the workers got payed. One of the rotarians I have nickname grandpa guffguff cause he makes me think of what guff with look like when he is really old. Tall, not as skinny as he used to be but not fat, and with white curly afro hair. Also one of them speaks french so we chatted for a bit, I quite liked him.

Then we went for dinner at a nice restaurant. Also I think stuff is cheaper here. Like a plate the size of my spread out hand filled with mashed potatoe balls was like 29 kc or a 1.50ish Canadian. Also a plate with a few veggies and a piece of chicken the size of my fist with bacon inside was 110 Kc (If I read the menu correctly) which means it was about 6 bucks or something. Could someone comfirm my suspicions since I dont eat out much. And the food was soooooooo gooooood. I am going to get very FAT here.

Today we had PE and we did 100 meter dash and long jump. I am right in the middle for gym, not the weakest nor the strongest which makes me happy. I think I did ok for long jump. Also next tuesday is a holiday which I am looking forward too.... a lot :D Also they have livewires but with many colours. Like one that is pink, blue, green and yellow. It was so cool! I have already decided that I will prolly bring a bunch back with me for everyone since I have many friends who are livewire fans.

Inbound Weekend

Tak (so), on friday I didn't go to school and at 12 we left for Strecno (Strechno) where the inbound conference was taking place. It was a really pretty drive with a few castles but I had fallen asleep a few times. Still jetlagged unfortunately. When I got there, I registered and went to my room meeting Rachel(Slovakia(SK)) along the way. There was Crystal, Maggie, Rachel(ofc), Megan (from Canada!) and Riannon from Slovakia who I hung out with at first. Then I chilled with Autumm, Pat (Canada!) and I forget name and Denise who are Czech. We did a lot a pin trading etc at the orientation and there were two crazy brazillian guys (Pedro and Vihctor). Friday night and saturday were mostly powerpoints (blech) but on saturday we hiked/walked to Strecno Castle. It was pretty cool and one of the owners wives from old times was buried in the crypt and when they opened it 30 years later they thought she was sleeping. This was in the 17th centuary I think. Unfortunately some crazy jerk burned her body (it was kept in the town) on April 1st 2009 :(((((((.

So a few of us were all wth (what the heck). I ran down from the castel with Pat and someone else so we could get ice cream as a reward for the hike up. I am now very sore from that and from the disco. Where Denise and I rocked it and tried to imitate the Brazillian girl who could move her hips and butt like no other (WOW). Also Crystal is a craaaaazy dancer. When they played Love the way you lie we got Myles(from USA but in Slovakia) to sing Rihanna and Denise and I rocked on the table rapping with Eminem :D Cause we is cool like that. After the disco I chilled in the hallway till curfew at midnight. My room mates were both asleep when I got back in the room. So I read until I was sleepy and had some trouble getting up cause I was sore and tired in the morning. On sunday we said are farewells. I will see the Czechs in December.... IN PRAGUE! :D but I don't remember when I will see the slovaks again.

On the way back my YEO got me really yummy czech cheese and we went to a peace monument in Alterwitz (sounds a lot like auswitz) where the battle of the three emporers took place and there is a monument of peace on the top of the hill. We went to the museum ( I remember later it was sunday so I feel bad), it was a really cool museum and very well done. I got a postcard and a letter opener thats all sword like all for 15$ Cdn which I believe is cheap for a museum (yes I am a bad girl) The three emporeres where Neopolean, Fredrik(Austria) and Alexander(Russia). Russia and Austria tried to defeat Neopolean but failed. I have to hand it Neopolean sounds pretty smart.

Anyways I meet my Babichka (grandmum) today and my other host sister Bara, who lives in Prague. She is very nice as is my Babichka, which I know I am spelling wrong but meh I'm tired and I would like to sleep but I am going to be up to see if I can catch people on msn cause I want to say HIIII!!! but not for too long. I don't want to get homesick.

Anyways that was my weekend. It was awesome obviously and more pictres are on facebook including of my rapping with Denise and Myle being Rihanna. TATA FOR NOW!!!! <3

Brno and School, Brno a Škola

S0 lets start with the rest of tuesday. I went to jewish cementary, basilika and saw a lot of the town. I am learning new words every day and I think I am learning very fast.

Now to wednsday. I met the director of the school and the vicedirector. They both seem very nice and the director knew a little about Vancouver. I am in class 6G. In gymnasium all classes are with same group of people all day. Sometimes they slipt in half. There are 25 students in my class including me. It is very different from back home. I apologize I have begun to speak in bad english so people understand me. There are 3 girls in my class who help with my Czech a lot and one boy, Petr who helps me figure out where to go sometimes. I have art, chem, bio, geography, history, czech, english, german (advanced...0.o), physics, PE, math and psychology type class. In the one involving formulas I reconize so I understand a little. I like my english teacher he speaks in a british accent :D. German teacher seems mean so I already don't like her.

After school I went to the office of my host parents, they are a 5 minute walk from school the shortest way. Then I went to lunch with my host dad, Jirka. My host mom is Jara but she was on buisness trip. Czech food is about pasta, potatoe etc with cheese and meat. I am going to get very fat but the food is very good. After lunch we went to buy school supplies. We had to get notebooks, some pencils, a lock for my locker, small dictionnary and a workbook for me on Czech language meant for little kids. I really like the town square. After shopping I was tired as was Jirka. As we were driving home I saw the missionaries but was so tired I didnt want to get out and say hi.

When we got home I organized my stuff, and wrote all my new words in a small notebook I bought for all the words I learn. I was up late doing that and then when I went to bed I was asleep like a rock. I also helped my host sister, Petra, make dinner. I seems very nice and funny.

Now to today aka thursday. I went to school and found my way around pretty well. In physics we had to write a lot so I keept having to looking at one of the girls notebooks cause I don't know czech well yet. In english Mr. Hedgehog (teacher) lets me do whatever I want so I draw and read but when there is discussion I participate. They asked me who I would want to win if anyone was against USA... I said anyone but them. I made them laugh especially when they asked what about Canada and Czech and I said I wouldn't watch. Classes are only 45 minutes so I never get bored of the subject and we got no homework at all it seems. Which makes very happy Erinn :D After school today I went again to Jirka's and Jara's office where I had some of Babičtkas food. It was very good. After that we went to Brno to pick Jara up from her trip and walked around the town and had cake at a yummy sweetshop. Then we went to Czech Ikea because my host parents had to get a bath mat.

I am very tired from my day and am ready to sleep but I must pack for my inbound orientation so I may not write at all the weekend as a prewarning. Here is a link to photos on facebook: http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=2073229&id=1073779998&l=2e9374a3a0
Facebook is being stupid so all photos wont be up till after the weekend :(

First Day

Well lets start off with my flight. It was long and I sleeped only for 4 hours. :( The food was really yummy and I got a spot at the beggining of a section so I had infinite amounts of legroom. I sat beside this old couple who were really queit. I was also still able to look out the window :). The washroom was also right by me so I was very happy. Everyone had there own tv screen and you could watch movies/tv/play video games. It was epic :D I got to amsterdam a little early I think so I was able to get to my flight to prague on time. There were lots of businessmen on that flight and I had a window seat so I could look at prague as we descended.
Martin, who will be my third host father picked me up from the airport and drove me to Trebic (pronouced Tres beach) and then I meet my first host family. They make me feel very tall and I need inside shoes for home and school. Maybe I can use my flats for school... My room also makes me feel tall cause its got a slopped ceiling cause of the roof. I finished unpacking this morning. Sleeped ok. Showers here are also diferent. My host family is very nice and have a very spoiled cute dog and a fat cat :D Today I am going to go see more of my town and tomorrow I will go to school. Hopefully I can figure out where the church is today or tomorrow. Also my host dad sees the missonaries alot :D cause they pass his office when walking to downtown.

Anyways thats all for now I am slowly getting used to this keyboard :D

No visa

So I'm still stuck in Canada, fancy that. I'm already packed, and repacked which actually worked better for my suitcases weight and all. I'm not registered for school methinks. I am one of the last people who don't have their visa who are going to Czech Republic. So you'd think I'm frustrated, well yes I am. I would just like to leave and start my adventure. My travel agent says I should be getting my visa this week hopefully. It never takes more than 60 days and the consulate has had it for at least a month.
And the guy who I thought was going to be in my class in Czech isn't so my hopes of having one friend are gone. However I still know someone there so that's good. I should really post a pic of my packing ritual and I need to find my language book that's evil which means trip to garage land. So expect a post soon ( it better be) going "YAY". That up there was my first packing attempt, my second one is much better and suitcases have changed.
